First, to all our loyal customers, Eastern Cycle is still at the usual location with a new phone number. What has changed is that Ducati has moved. This is an exiting transition for us at Eastern Cycle and for Ducati. By moving from the small space at Eastern Cycle to Cycles 128 there is now room for Ducati to spread out. You will find more new bikes on display, a renovated Service area for Ducati staffed by our own Gido Braase, and a growing Accessory and Apparel department. Pope Benedict XVI received a nice surprise today as Ducati Motor Holdings dropped off two purpose-built Ducati Multistrada 1200S Touring bikes for His Holiness. We don’t expect Il Papa to be riding the bikes anytime soon though, as the two Ducatis will be used by the Pope’s motorcade and Vatican gendarmerie (the Vatican police force), hence the special papal yellow paint scheme.
Making the special delivery to the Pontiff at his summer home Castel Gandolfo was Ducati Motor Holdings CEO Gabriele Del Torchio. ”We are honored to have had the opportunity to deliver the Holy Father the two Multistradas,” said del Torchio.
“This meeting for us, for all women and men working in Ducati, is of particular pride,and confirmation of our every day efforts throughout the company. A symbolic gesture with which we want to witness the appreciation of Ducati to the Magisterium of the Pope, it achieves the message of hope and confidence addressed to the world of work contained in the Encyclical “Caritas in Veritate.”
